Georges Perec is one of the most significant writers of contemporary French literature. He wrote in all directions across various genres including novels, poems, plays, screenplays and essays. He demonstrated a daring experimental spirit, excellent sense of language, rich narrative and exquisite sensibility, all in great balance. In the early days, Perec focused on analysis and critique of the times and society (Things). In his middle period, as a member of the Oulipo group, he devoted himself to intense linguistic exploration (La Disparition).
