This sub-section of Masters & Newcomers introduces the first or second films of up-and-coming directors from Asia, Africa and Latin America, thereby bringing new cinematic insights into the audience's sight. At In: Sight, we have proudly selected the following screenings: Krrishna Kt Borah’s Songs for Rain reveals the selfishness of community through a superstitious ritual taking place in a village in India; Ana Katz’s The Dog Who Wouldn’t be Quiet sheds light on the struggles of people living in an era of global epidemics that is worsened by class system; Nino Martínez Sosa’s Liborio from the Dominican Republic, depicts the resistance movement of Native North Americans; Chittaranjan Giri’s Awakash is about how two sisters find a way to adapt to the changing tide of India; Ayten Amin’s Souad depicts the journey of a younger sister searching for her lost older sister, revealing her secrets and the pain caused by the mismatch of ideal and reality amongst young Egyptians; Faya Dayi by Jessica Beshir, plunges into the hard life of Ethiopians through the cultivation of hallucinogenic plants; Cao Jinling’s Anima raises questions about the coexistence of nature and humans through the problems caused by illegal logging in China; The Terrible Children, directed by Ahmet Necdet Cupur, approaches the conflict between older and younger generations in Turkey through the lens of his family.
