GIFF's section devoted to new films is titled “Discover GIFF” in English. This exhibition is an invitation to audiences and directors around the world hoping they will “discover the Gangneung International Film Festival.” We have prepared this section with the confidence that GIFF shall become the ideal platform to introduce new works to movie lovers all over the world.
In this year's Discover GIFF, a total of 37 new feature and short films will be presented.
First, the short films introduced in Discover GIFF consist of works by directors with similar themes or cultural landscapes. The short films of Discover GIFF are curated as six groups, creating lingering emotions via content and visuals. Second, the feature section of Discover GIFF introduces the latest films of established directors as well as well-recognized debut films of new directors. Some of the films show their unique perspective or variation on previously covered themes; others show completely new themes and aesthetics. The premiers of new directors who are starting their journey into movie history are ready to meet our audiences.
