Under Premiere GIFF, this section introduces short films produced and supported by the Gangneung International Film Festival for the purpose of contributing to the development and revitalization of the local film ecosystem. The GIFF’s production support is open to films that the meet one of the following thee conditions: a) 50% of the film to be shot in Gangneung, b) 30% of workforce from Gangneung, or c) produced by a director/producer based or resident in Gangneung. Since the 1st Gangneung International Film Festival in 2019, a total of six films have received production support. This year, You Misun's Why didn’t You Turn Your Camera Off? completed with last year’s GIFF Short Film Fund will be screened. With more than ten works under her belt, Why didn’t You Turn Your Camera Off?, You tells the story of students taking online lectures as part of ‘the new normal’ created by the COVID-19 pandemic. An unforeseen situation during an online lecture reveals our voyeuristic desires.
