This is Georges Perec and Alain Corneau’s film adaptation of ///A Hell of a Woman/// by American novelist Jim Thompson. Frank is a house-peddling salesman living in the outskirts of Paris. His marriage bumpy and his life boring, he wants something new. One day, he sells a piece of cloth to an old lady who suggests that Frank spend a night with her 16-year-old niece, Mona, instead of getting paid. Frank declines the suggestion and Mona, who is touched, tells Frank that her aunt keeps a large amount of money at home. Mona and Frank decide to steal the money and start to make a thorough plan. This calm and dry black comedy by Alain Corneau was highly praised by critics and director Bertrand Tavernier upon its release in 1979. It also ranked highly on the list of the Best 100 French Movies chosen by movie critics in 2014.
