The Divide

Raphaëlle and Julie are about to break up after 10 years of love. While their relationship is falling apart, the Parisian society experiences a crack as well. Amidst a gilet jaune demonstration, Raphaëlle following Julie falls and is taken to a hospital emergency room with a fractured arm. The psychiatry department is closed for the day, but a lot of psychiatric patients come to the hospital. People hurt during the demonstration flood the hospital as well, causing a total chaos. There, Raphaëlle meets Yann, a wounded truck driver, who joined the demo. Their conflicting views of the demonstration, or the different perspectives of a white-collar man and a blue-collar man, leads to another fuss. This deeply social comedy film elaborately connects fractures of a relationship, an arm, and the society with unexpected incidents, revealing that they are paradoxically all connected in their world.
