As a man fails to repay his loans, his daughter is taken by another man hired by the loan shark. She is told he will take her to her aunt. But he plans to sell the daughter to a brothel. She knows this and seems to have accepted this as her fate. A good-natured man appears accompanies them suddenly without their consent. They take route 1 and ride on. Route 1 in the movie is the first national road in South Korea that connects Sinuiju, the furthest northern point of North Korea to Mokpo, the furthest southern point of South Korea. It is now a divided road that can no longer be taken, an incomplete and impossible ending for so long. From Daechu-ri in Pyeongtaek to the military road in Paju, the tragic cries of our modern history still linger on this road. The people are used to having no place to go, no starting point, used to being lost and being forgotten. These people are somewhat like this road.

KANG Kyungtae

Kang Kyungtae majored in anthropology as an undergraduate and film studies in graduate school. He served as a screenwriter and director for the feature-length omnibus , which was the opening film of the 2014 Seoul Independent Film Festival.
