Lam is an old man living in Hong Kong who lost his memories ever since his wife passed away. On the fifth of March, a Taoist exorcist named Meng unexpectedly visits him, determined to drive out the demon that settled on top of his head. The fifth of March is the day when insects awake from hibernation. This film is the sixth joint animation of the duo François Leroy and Stéphanie Lansaque, who already have collaborated on multiple works together. They previously screened their short animation film to filmmakers around the world through the Cannes Film Festival’s Critics' Week. The two constantly draw from Asian, particularly Vietnamese, cultural influences as their source of inspiration to choose their subject matter and drawing style. A Hong Kong-born orally transmitted tale also exerted strong influence on this work. Can this old man’s excruciating loss be cured amid the time when insects come out of their long winter sleep?
