Nicolas is a 13-year-old boy living in a foster home in the Bruche Valley in France. He likes Ulysses stories and Jack London novels and enjoys chatting with his friend Saes as they walk in the woods together. Sometimes Nicolas sees her mother and goes to baptism ceremonies and festivals with her. Now turning fifteen, Nicolas must make an important decision for his future. Director Marie Dumora has already met Nicolas in her previous films. She has been making several films about stories of one underprivileged family in eastern France. Each of her films deals with one member from the same family and focuses on another member in the next work. Nicolas, who had been entrusted to foster care in her previous film, is now a teenager. As she has spent a long period of time with the family, the director’s films are full of ethnographic exploration and loving warmth for the underprivileged.
